Student Employee Job Description
The Kruse Center Office Assistant will support the three experiential education teams: Career Development, Experiential Education Guarantee, and Global Education.
Hours per week: 4-10
Schedule: Primarily Monday-Friday, 11:30am-1:30pm for lunch coverage and two weekday shifts 1:30pm-3:30pm. There may be opportunities to pick up additional hours during other times as office needs dictate
Salary: $15.00/hour
Start Date: Monday, August 31, 2026
End Date: Friday, December 4, 2026 with option to continue through spring semester
Location: In-office, Kruse Center, Cushing-Martin Hall
Job Description:
- Greet all guests to the Kruse Center warmly and represent the Kruse Center teams professionally, at all times;
- Answer multi-line phone system, screen calls, distribute calls as appropriate, or take detailed messages when necessary;
- Maintain the email inbox for Kruse Center teams by either responding to emails or forwarding them to appropriate professional staff;
- Assist students and alumni in scheduling appointments via Handshake;
- Assist with event planning for a variety of programs;
- Facilitate an inventory audit of the Suit-a-Skyhawk closet and complete pertinent follow up with borrowers to have items returned;
- Audit postings and employers in Handshake in collaboration with the Assistant Director for Employer Engagement;
- Print, fold, and restock all print resources in the Kruse Center suite;
- Maintain a clean and stocked snack station;
- Perform photocopying, filing, and clerical duties as assigned;
Qualifications:
- Must have a Federal Work Study Award
- Strong customer service skills
- Exhibits strong attention to detail;
- Follows directions accurately and asks questions and seeks guidance when necessary;
- Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner;
- Works independently and completes tasks on time or notifies the appropriate person with an alternate plan;
- Maintains confidentiality;
- Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive and negative situations;
- Approaches others in a tactful manner; reacts well under pressure, treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position, and accepts responsibility for own actions;
- Consistently at work and arrives on time, and ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent;
- Possesses proficient working knowledge of and ability to work with Microsoft Word & Excel; and
- Basic knowledge of office procedures.
Due to the public-facing responsibilities of this role, and the interaction with employers and global study providers, we ask our Office Assistants to follow a business casual dress code:
- No sweatpants, sweatshirts, gym clothes, or hats;
- Jeans without rips or tears are acceptable
